At least 10% of U.S.-based computers are infected with malware. Malware – computer viruses, worms, trojans, rootkits, spyware, adware – uses a computer’s operating system to evade detection and hinder removal. Anti-detection is a major selling point when virus writers sell trojans to criminal organizations operating “botnets” for financial gain.
Current anti-virus products are ineffective because their remediation method is flawed: the anti-virus programs attempt to remove malware by using the infected computer’s compromised operating system itself.
The SOFIns Approach uses the most effective way to remove malware: It disables the operating system, preventing the malware application from running. This requires the infected computer to be shut down and booted using a known-good operating system. The malware infection can then be identified and removed.
